Closing Date: 15.7 2018. Nominations sought for vulnerable/ disadvantaged groups/communities; rural or urban; men and/or women who produce items related to their traditional crafts or have the potential for production. Nominated communities need to have an impressive craft skills and the ability to create high quality products.
The aim is to develop a methodology to support artisans from marginalized communities to start their own businesses as social enterprises, and to complement their traditional craft skills as part of a three-year programme to enable them to become trusted suppliers of global retail groups. The methodology will be formalized, tested and verified in collaboration with seven (7) artisan communities between July 2018 to August 2021. Each community’s needs and requirements will be assessed individually, while tailor-made trainings will be developed and provided.
