Closing Date: 31.3 2019. The Awards, presented each year in partnership with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), recognise and highlight innovative, outstanding and sometimes revolutionary housing ideas, projects and programmes. Housing projects and approaches are sought that demonstrate practical, innovative and sustainable solutions to current housing issues faced by countries all around the world, which can be transferred or adapted for use as appropriate.
Each year two winners receive £10,000 each and a trophy, presented at a global UN-Habitat event, providing opportunities for international exposure, networking and dissemination of the award winning approaches.
Any individual, organisation or government who has an innovative and practical solution to housing needs and problems from any country of the world. More than one entry can be made by the same individual or organisation.
Entries should relate to housing projects and processes that are either completed or in progress. Those that are at design stage only or in the very early stages of development cannot be considered.
Whilst the housing element must be key part of each submission, entrants are encouraged to submit projects that view the term habitat from a broad perspective and address wider issues such as social inclusion, environmental sustainability and income generation, community and individual empowerment, health benefits, capacity building or education.
