Call for Nominations: Human Rights Prize of the French Republic

Due Date: 15.10 2018. The French Republic’s “liberty, Equality, Fraternity” Human Rights Prize is awarded annually by the French National Consultative Commission on Human Rights. In 2018, the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 20th anniversary of the Declaration on Human Rights Defenders, the award will honor people, organizations, and collaborative grassroots actions in defense and promotion of human rights, particularly for marginalized and vulnerable populations.

The prize is conferred in Paris each year on 10 December, on the occasion of the Human Rights Day as proclaimed by the United Nations. Five prize winners will be invited to Paris for the official ceremony. Winners will receive a medal and share a total sum of €70,000, awarded by the French National Consultative Commission on Human Rights, for implementation of their respective projects. Five runners-up will be awarded a “special mention” medal by the French ambassador in their country of origin.

Nominations are open to individuals, organizations, and collective efforts regardless of nationality. Applications must be submitted in French for consideration by the jury.
